You Run = You Help. How Participants Of the Race In Tel Aviv Raised About $15,500 To Help Ukraine

On April 8, a charity race Run for Ukraine took place in Yarkon Park in Tel Aviv. It was organized by the Israeli Friends of Ukraine and the Chance for Life Foundation together with the Embassy of Ukraine in Israel. Information partners are our "Israeli-Ukrainian Alliance" and the Israel Stands with Ukraine community.
After the welcoming speech of the Ambassador of Ukraine to Israel E. Korniychuk, the participants prepared for pre-selected routes - 1.5, 3 or 5 km. You could cover the distance by running, jogging or walking. Interestingly, most chose the route of 5 km.
580 people registered. The race was attended not only by families with children, couples and single runners, but also entire working groups of hi-tech companies Crazy Labs, Bluevein and Meron. The same companies helped organize the event. Those who came to support the runners did not have to be bored either: yoga classes, competitions, drawing of original lottery prizes and master classes for children took place for them. Guests could buy flags and T-shirts of original designs provided by the team of the online store "We Ukraine". All the money received goes to funds and communities to help Ukraine. In the first month, collectively 100,000 hryvnias were raised.
According to the results of the race, 50,000 shekels were collected, which is about 456,000 hryvnias. "We are constantly trying to change the formats of measures to draw attention to the war in Ukraine. Our help is always targeted. This time the funds raised will be donated to the Tina Karol Foundation "Gravity", which helps children with cancer. The rest will be used to help provide hospitals in Ukraine, ”said Anna Zharova, one of the founders of the Israeli Friends of Ukraine NGO and CEO of Israeli Ukrainian Alliance.
One of the wards of the Chance for Life Foundation, 17-year-old Ukrainian Serhiy Kondratsky, was the guest of honor at the race. He has been battling cancer for almost 3 years, and in 2020 he arrived in Israel in critical condition for treatment. Serhiy opened the race with the words “I want to support people who are fighting for their lives in Ukraine. We speak different languages, but the goal is the same - we are fighting for our lives! ” The young man was supported in this by Israeli journalist and author of the book "Interesting Patient" Sergei Auslander. He has already won his personal victory over cancer and has become an example for Sergei of resilience, courage and strength of will. “On February 24, the world stopped having halftones for me personally, it became black and white. No one cannot remain indifferent and do nothing, because indifference and inaction are complicity. We all have to help Ukraine, and we are doing it together today, "Auslander said.
P.S. The co-organizer of the race is White Crow Sports Production.
